Photography Assignment - Night Shoot

I'm blogging a little out of order, but this was our fourth assignment and it consisted of going out as a class at night and shooting in Santa Monica. We practiced shooting with only available/natural light. It was a blast, and great to have the instructor and classmates all shooting together. Here are some of my favorite shots.

The ferris wheel was letting off some amazing colorful light and added a nice highlight to the already beautiful beaches!

I know it's a lot of the same thing, but I loved them!

And now, to the other side of the pier! More beach action..Notice the ghost figures..

Then on to the streets to capture some traffic shots. I love this one...a bus!

Then up to the 3rd street promenade. Diggin this one. That's actually water spewing out of this guy's mouth.

Photography Assignment 2

Here are the shots for my second photography assignment. I really enjoyed this one, although it took me three days of going out to shoot to complete it. Can anyone guess what it is? (all three of you who read my blog?)

Baby Shower

Last Saturday, we went to some good friends' baby shower in anticipation for their first child, Angelo. We had a great time hanging out, and enjoyed the fact that it was a co-ed shower. It's so incredible to see a life growing inside a woman. I have baby envy for sure! Soon enough, Grandma(s) ;-)
The beautiful Mama to be..

The decorations were adorable, and the house they live in is amazing..complete with a gorgeous view, pool, jacuzzi, firepit overlooking the valley, and water fountains all in their backyard. They put a lot of work into it and it shows.

There was definitely not a shortage of gifts in the house.

Liz and a couple friends made all of these chocolate suckers shaped as baby bottles and other things. Very cute!

Adorable and DELICIOUS cake as well!

The hubbs enjoying a nice steak kabob!

And now on to the kids. I didn't know any of them, but they were so cute and playful..as kids are ;-) I had fun just snapping shots of them as they played and POSED. Seriously, they're all under the age of 2 and were all little camera hams. Loved it!
These two are twins and as adorable as can be.

And this one? An absolute doll and a riot with the camera!

This one just cracks me up for some reason!

And this one.

And finally, this cutie was having fun flirting with my camera..and I was not complaining!

Too bad it's a little underexposed.

Photography Assignment 1

I started my photo class at SMC. So far, so good, and I do feel like I am learning. Slowly, but surely.
Our first assignment was "to record the texture, quality and form of rendering light. The emphasis is on composition and graphic content. Show details, angles, texture and color. This is to be a dissection of the building showing off the details in a strong graphic way. Use the viewfinder as a cropping frame. Make a strong visual statement with the images. Tell the graphic story of the whole building by capturing its parts. Choose lighting situations that accentuate the texture, shape and form of the building."

Here are my favorites that I turned in during class for critique.

A tad bit overexposed, but I like it nonetheless.

My Soccer Knocker

I attended my honey's soccer game this afternoon. It was hot, but a great chance to practice some manual action shooting (and watch my hubby in action)! Some of my favorite action shots:

Check out the air he got on this header!

Half-time portrait session ;-)

So handsome.

Love this.
